We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Finance Officer to join a small team based in Midsomer Norton. This is a varied and hands-on role responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting financial planning and analysis, and ensuring compliance with all relevant accounting regulations and standards.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in overseeing daily finance operations, improving financial processes and internal controls, and providing valuable insights that support strategic business decisions. Working closely with senior management, you will help develop and refine financial policies, procedures, and reporting methods that contribute to the company’s continued growth and success. Payroll experience is beneficial.

This company designs and manufactures logistics products to assist you move items with speed and efficiency.

 

Job Title: Finance Officer

Location: Midsomer Norton

Contract: Permanent

Salary: £39,250.00 p/a

 

Responsibilities

  • Managing and continually improving accounting processes, systems, and financial controls
  • Preparing and posting monthly journals, including accruals and prepayments
  • Producing accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
  • Leading budgeting and forecasting activities in collaboration with senior management
  • Analysing financial performance and providing clear recommendations to support decision-making
  • Monitoring working capital and preparing rolling cash flow forecasts
  • Acting as the primary finance contact for the holding company, auditors, and external accountants
  • Ensuring VAT returns are prepared, submitted, and paid accurately and on time
  • Providing meaningful financial insights to support strategic and operational objectives
  • Maintaining financial records in accordance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Supporting the development of robust financial procedures that drive efficiency and continuous improvement

 

To be considered:

  • Technical accounting knowledge and understanding of financial best practices
  • Previous experience using accounting software, ideally Sage
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Experience preparing monthly management accounts and financial reports
  • Knowledge of statutory reporting requirements, including VAT returns
  • Experience managing both Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions
  • Proven ability to perform bank reconciliations and maintain accurate financial records
  • AAT qualified (or equivalent accounting qualification)
  • Experience preparing annual budgets and regular cash flow forecasts
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritise workloads, work independently, and meet deadlines
  • Leadership skills and the ability to support and guide colleagues where required
