I am looking for a Product Designer to join a manufacturing engineering team based in Radstock on a permanent basis.

Salary: £35,000.00 – £40,000.00 (DOE)

We have a new opportunity for a suitable candidate who will be an important cog in the wheel within a product design team. As part the Product Designer you will own assigned design activities and work with manufacturing, estimating, commercial and project teams to meet agreed quality, cost and programme requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Manage assigned product development activities from initial concept through to design approval
• Creating 3D models of new and existing products using Autodesk inventor or similar CAD software
• Produce accurate 2D CAD details, product drawings, product testing manufacturing drawings and fabrication information
• Check general arrangement drawings, working drawings and fabrication details
• Manage change requests, drawing control updates, bills of materials and production information
• Prepare clear technical documentation and presentation materials for internal teams, customers, and external designers.
• Create and maintain bills of materials, production routes and manufacturing data in line with approved designs and agreed programmes
• Support prototype development, product trials, testing and design validation, incorporating findings into the final design before approval

To be considered:

• Experience creating 3D models and detailed 2D drawings using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD, or similar software
• Working knowledge of manufacturing processes such as metal fabrication, machining and assembly
• Experience in manufacturing, interiors, construction or a related technical design environment
• Ability to use ERP or MRP systems and Microsoft Office
• An understanding of cost, value, quality and manufacturing efficiency in design decisions
• BTEC Level 3|4 NVQ, ONC, HNC or comparable qualification in Product Design, Mechanical Design or a related discipline, or relevant industry experience
