Hours: Monday to Friday (40 hours per week, 8.30am to 5pm)

Company Overview: Our client is a renowned food manufacturing business who specialises in marinades, sauces and dressings. They are renowned for their commitment to quality and innovation in the food industry. They are seeking a HSE Lead to play a pivotal role in the growth of the company and the development of their Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) strategy.

Role Overview: As the HSE Lead, you will be responsible for leading and managing the HSE function within the company. You will develop and implement HSE strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and to promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility. Work Health & Safety and Environmental Management System Lead. Your role is crucial in safeguarding the wellbeing of employees and the sustainability of the company’s operations.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement the site HSE plan with a focus on culture
  • Utilising regional contacts, lead on people development with a clear focus on industry standards
  • Provide advice and guidance to the business at all levels
  • Taking ownership for developing, implementing and maintaining critical plans, policies and procedures
  • Managing HSE records
  • Responsible for writing detailed risk assessments and maintaining the risk assessment library accordingly
  • Support the HR Department with information in relation to occupational health referrals
  • Manage the incident, accident and near miss reporting system and following up actions in a timely manner either directly or through delegation

To be considered for this role, you will require the following skills, qualifications and experience

  • NEBOSH is essential for this role
  • Previous environmental experience is desirable
  • Food industry experience is desirable
  • Experience of LEAN manufacturing is desirable
  • Ability to influence decision makers
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Resolution focussed outlook to problem solving
  • Able to teach and coach in an understanding manner
  • Highly organised approach to working
  • ISO9001 and 14001 – knowledge in that area is advantageous.
  • Certifications and verifications, including ISO14001 and ISO 45001 are desirable but not essential.
