I am seeking a proactive and detail-oriented EHS Assistant to support the Environmental Health and Safety team. Reporting to the EHS Manager you will play a crucial role in ensuring a safe and healthy work environment, promoting environmental responsibility, and assisting with the implementation and maintenance of the EHS management systems.

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is willing to roll their sleeves up and have a passion for safety and sustainability to contribute to a positive and compliant workplace. You are required to support the effective implementation and maintenance of our EHS management systems. This role involves a combination of office work, site inspections and outdoor activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of EHS policies, procedures, and programs
  • Conduct regular workplace inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with regulations and company standards
  • Support the investigation of incidents, accidents, and near misses, and assist in the development and implementation of corrective and preventive actions
  • Maintain accurate EHS records, including training records, inspection reports, incident logs, and risk assessments
  • Assist with the delivery of EHS training programs to employees, contractors, and visitors
  • Support the management of waste streams, ensuring proper segregation, storage, and disposal in accordance with environmental regulations
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of emergency preparedness and response plans
  • Assist in the communication of EHS information to employees
  • Support the procurement and maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE) and other safety-related equipment.
  • Keep up to date with relevant EHS legislation, regulations, and best practices
  • Providing comprehensive administrative support to the EHS Manager and the wider team
  • Maintaining and updating EHS documentation, including policies, procedures, risk assessments, and training records

About You:

  • Proven experience in an administrative role, ideally within an EHS, quality, or compliance-related field
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills with a strong attention to detail
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • A proactive and self-motivated approach with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • A good understanding of basic EHS principles and regulations (e.g., COSHH, RIDDOR, environmental permits) is desirable
