Apprentice Maintenance Engineer

This is an exciting opportunity for a sixth form/A level student looking to get into an maintenance engineering role. This role will commence September 2019 and your training will take 3 years during which you will be required to obtain a level 3 NVQ in Engineering. The working hours for the role are 7am – 3:45pm Monday to Thursday, 7am – 1:00pm Friday for the completion of the apprenticeship. College attendance will be once a week during term time over a three-year period.
**Must be prepared to work overtime and respond to call outs as required in line with the remit of the post.
As a Maintenance Apprentice, you can expect to carry out with training, tasks involving both mechanical and electrical disciplines on a variety of machines operated. Preventative maintenance on machines and equipment, responding to emergency machine break downs. Involvement with new design, installation and movements of existing machines.Overhaul and repair of machines and equipment ensuring machines and equipment on site is safe, working efficiently and fit for purpose.
The ideal candidate:
Must be 18 or approaching this age during the first year
We are looking for people with a passion for engineering, great communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
To apply you will need at least 3 GCSEs grades 4 to 9 (Grades A* – C) or equivalent, including English, Maths, Science and ideally a technically-based subject (e.g. Design & Technology). We would be particularly interested to receive applications from candidates who have further education qualifications such as A-Levels, BTEC or equivalent but most importantly you will be enthusiastic and keen for a career within engineering.
The environment and tasks can on times be challenging however, if you are passionate about engineering, A Maintenance & Operations engineering apprenticeship will be extremely rewarding.
The starting salary for this apprenticeship is £6.50ph increasing in year 2, and further into year 3. Progression through the apprenticeship programme is subject to performance both in college and in the workplace.
